Last night we went to a Warthogs game with Nathan's work. We were just to the left of home plate, although I didn't get to watch much of the game. Seth thought the seats were gigantic stairs to climb, so we did a lot of walking at the top. It was Wally the Warthog's birthday, so a bunch of other mascots were there to celebrate. Seth liked the KFC Chicken, because it gave him a ball. He was fascinated with Sir Purr from the Panthers, but that was one tall cat, so Seth never got brave enough to get too close. We made it to the seventh inning stretch, and Seth even stayed awake the 15 minute car ride home. Here is a picture from Seth's first baseball game! The other picture is from this morning. If Seth finds clothes laying around, he wants you to put it back on. Today HE wanted to wear his daddy's dirty shirt. Very funny!
This post technically should have been made yesterday...the 1o year annivesary of move-in day at LR. (I remember because it's the same date as the Bezduch's wedding anniversary, my parents dropped me off as early as possible so they could get to Fayetteville for the wedding!) It's also the 10 year annivesary of the day I met Nathan. We were in the same Prologue (aka orientation) group, and he offered me his seat at the picnic table, which I declined. I thought he'd be a cool guy friend that first day, but by day two, he'd turned the flirt on, and the rest, as they say, is history! It's also the first day I met Krystal and Safiya (I had met Katie during the summer). Sorry guys (Armes, Aage, Leebo, etc....)but I can't remember if I met you that day or not. How did we get to be the "old" alumni? These pictures are a blast from the past (wasn't that a Homecoming theme one year?)...sorry the quality isn't great, I had to take pictures of the pictures...but they all are of the first few weeks of school. We just got back from a nice 4-day weekend. Nathan went to a bachelor party in Raleigh Wednesday, so Seth and I spent the night in Cary. Thursday morning we picked Nathan up for a quick getaway to Wrightsville. We were SOOOOO lazy. Normally Seth is not the easiest kid to travel with because he doesn't nap in unfamiliar surroundings. This weekend, we were able to get him to nap with us in the king-sized hotel bed. The only problem is he spreads out so much, he takes up more room than we do! Friday morning he and I napped 2 hours, you know I never do that! We had a little bit of beach and pool time, but mostly we were just lazy bums. Saturday we drove back to Cary and went to Craig Norton's wedding in Raleigh. Seth stayed at the house and got spoiled by his grandparents and his Auntie Lisa. (On a side note, all the restaurants were closed in Cary this weekend due to an E. coli outbreak in the water, how weird is that? Luckily, Craig and Jenny's reception was in Durham!) We had a great time at the wedding, it was so good to see everyone again. Hoodoo Voodoo is the name of my nail polish color, and believe me I am never going to choose it again! I dropped Seth off in Cary and went to get a pedicure, coupon in hand, when the door of the nail salon had a signing reading "Closed: Back at 4:30" (It was 5:10) So I call mom to find out the name of another place, bummed because I have no coupon (you know me and my coupons!) They get me settled in my chair, which lurched forward and got stuck, so they had to move me to another chair. The rest of the pedicure was uneventful, but I had smudged my right big toe by the time I got home. Last night at the wedding reception, Nathan accidently put his chair down on my left big toe, it hurt so bad, I saw stars. Today the tip of my toe is bruised, and I'm afraid if I removed my polish, under the nail would be a lovely shade of purple! I'm usually not a superstitious person, but for all the ladies out there, stay away from the Hoodoo Voodoo!
One of the advantages of working in a unit with almost 100 women is that there is bound to be at least one woman pregnant at the same time as you. Seth was born near the beginning of a baby boom in the nursery. And I cannot tell you how much I enjoy the playdates Seth has with my coworkers' kids. We do lunch, go shopping, and this summer we've been meeting once a week to go to the pool. Since Seth isn't in daycare, it's great for him to play with other kids his age. Today, we switched it up a little bit and went to ChuckECheese. I think I only went once as a child, so I didn't really know what to expect. It was CRAZY in there, but Seth loved watching the big kids play, and he went on a couple of cars. Here's a picture of Seth and Landon...there was a video screen near Seth's knees...Landon was enjoying the video so much, I couldn't get him to look at the camera!
We had a relatively quiet weekend. The nursery was really busy Friday, so I stayed at work until 3 am. Saturday Nathan and I had our anniversary date a week late. We went to a new-ish restaurant in town that has gotten a lot of hype, but evidently some people don't mind blowing almost $100 in jeans! We had gone dressy-casual, but I'm glad we did, because one of Nathan's superiors was there. It was really nice not to have to inhale our food; Seth had a baby-sitter! Sunday Seth and I went to church, and it was the first time they haven't come to get me from the nursery. It must have worn him out, he slept right through lunch! Yesterday afternoon we took Nathan to the playground in the mall for the first time. Seth is getting very brave and doesn't mind being bumped around by the bigger kids. I'll have to post a picture of that sometime.Seth has been on a learning boom the past three weeks. We have had a walker in our house for nine days now. I think he waited until he knew he wouldn't fall a lot, because now he walks 80% of the time, and is very confident. He has become a big helper and wants to do all sorts of chores. Yesterday I was washing our sheets and he had a fit that the comforter wasn't on the bed! We had to put it on just to appease him! He loves to read Pat the Bunny, and he loves to try to do the page before we read it to him. Here's a picture of Seth on the go!
Nathan was out of town last week, and I emailed him pictures daily. It occurred to me that maybe we should start a blog to post random pictures, rather than email people albums that have a month at a time on them. So I'll make albums for big events, otherwise, check in on us here. I'm sure there will be lots to share as Seth's antics increase daily.Here are a couple sillies to get us started...today I was putting away some Tupperware and turned around to find my "big helper" getting into some mischief...at it wasn't even 7 am! And Seth watched Nathan get ready this morning and decided he needed to wear a belt, too. Nathan had to wrap it around him twice to get it to buckle!
